Lilacs and Butterflies Tea Party for Two

We are currently enjoying lilac season around here and I thought it would be fun to set an afternoon tea party table in celebration of this wonderful flower.

This striped Turkish beach towel turned tablecloth (from Dollar Store) provided the perfect backdrop.

I had these purple metal butterflies on hand so added them to the theme for the table decor.

Lemon tea seemed like a good choice.

Creamy lemon yogurt was served in purple compote dishes.

A single lilac bloom added a delicate embellishment.

Here's an overhead view of a place setting with some baked treats in nearby reach.

Butter tarts, shortbread and chocolate chip cookies along with chocolate bark were all wonderfully provided by my mom who is an excellent baker. (I did not inherit that gene!)

By now, you might have noticed that my lilac arrangement is faux. While I love lilacs, I have a hard time arranging them so prefer this option for indoors.

Of course, with the faux version, there is none of the amazing lilac scent...

...so I am very thankful to have discovered this "Lilac Blooms" scented candle by Homestead Candle Company.

It smells just like fresh lilacs but isn't overpowering - perfect for an afternoon tea table.

Other decor on the table included this purple ceramic watering can that I filled with spoons and a white napkin.

You will have noticed a few birdies on the table as well and this one is resting in his cage.

Tealights were also placed in a few spots to add some ambiance.

Lilacs have such a short season which might be part of what makes them so special. It was fun to set a tea table and celebrate their beauty while they're still around.

Here is a look at a lilac vignette I created while setting out the items I used for this tea tablescape.

Are you a fan of lilacs?

How about tea parties?

Sunshine Yellow and Midnight Black Spring Table for Two

In keeping with my lemon decor theme, I decided to set a spring table for two in yellow and black.

I also added a touch of daisy.

This little table by our front windows is where we eat a lot of our meals.  The sunny yellow really brightened up the space

I pulled out a few of my black and white plates from my stash and topped them with a yellow bowl.

I  placed yellow gingham napkin in the bowl along with a decorative lemon and daisy as extra embellishment.

Black handled flatware was tied with raffia and placed on the side.

Yellow cups were filled with tea and lemon slices (faux for now).

Because the table is so small, instead of a centerpiece, I created a side-piece which began with a white pitcher of faux forsythia.

Beside that, I placed this wire cloche filled with a faux candle and lemons on a stamped stack of books.

On the other side, this glass vase contains more faux lemons, greenery and some string lights.

Small tealight holders and a faux daisy were placed in between the place settings.

This tablescape would work well for a spring luncheon or Sunday brunch for two.

The sunny yellow of lemons provides such a cheery vibe and it can be combined with many different colours.  I'm liking the contrast of midnight black with it.

Coffee and Tea Bar with Lemon Decor

When I transitioned my kitchen sideboard from a Christmas Gingerbread Hot Cocoa Bar (here) to a Winter Sports Themed Cocoa Bar (here), I was already thinking ahead to what I could do in the spring when hot cocoa would be out of season.

I decided that lemons and forsythia were the perfect spring decor and I set up a different kind of beverage station based on...

...this Coffee & Tea Bar sign I found on Amazon.

Because the sign was black, as was my coffee maker, I decided to go with a yellow and black/white buffalo check colour scheme.

I decorated this end of the coffee bar with a faux forsythia arrangement, candles, mugs, plates, and faux lemon slices.

Mr Rooster overlooks the coffee scene.

A small white pitcher holds spoons for stirring the hot beverages.

Jar candles add a warm glow to the coffee & tea station.

Appropriately named, this "Sweet Lemon" candle by Homestead Candle Company has the perfect lemony scent.

Another fav is this one called "Afternoon Tea" which also goes well with my theme.

The Coffee & Tea Bar sign was hung on top of a shiplap background that hangs over the middle section of the sideboard.

I wanted to elevate this portion of the decor so I used a wooden riser that Mr Delight built for me. A wire basket filled with faux lemons and pots of greenery sit on top of it along with some mugs and little signs.

The far end of the sideboard holds the Flex Brew beverage maker. Tea bags, coffee pods and some packages of Starbucks' vanilla latte are conveniently placed beside it on a tiered tray. Another faux forsythia arrangement serves as a colourful backdrop.

Both ends of the cabinet also got some decor in the form of baskets and pillows.

On this side, a lemon pillow was set in front of a buffalo check one in a wire basket atop a vintage wooden stool.

A market bag was hung on the cabinet door as an added embellishment.

Having this space in my kitchen all set up as a beverage station has made getting a cup of coffee or tea all the more fun!

The only problem is that it tends to make me take way more coffee breaks than I should!

Do you have a place set up in your home where you can grab a quick hot beverage?
