Summer Tablescape for the Backyard

We've had such a rainy summer so far this year that I've not had much opportunity to set many outdoor tablescapes.

When the sun does come out, I grab the chance though and recently set this simple summertime tablescape in what we call our "cabana" in the backyard.

I started by putting together the items I wanted to use for the place settings.

A brown charger was topped with an aqua coloured dinner plate.  One of my last purchases from Pier 1, before they went out of business, was these leaf design salad plates.

They came in sets of 4 different leaf patterns and I love the colours in them.

I topped them with these aqua coloured bowls which were a gift from my daughter many years ago.

Coordinating cloth napkins in the same colour tones were embellished with a sprig of faux parsley and...

...my dragonfly napkin rings (also Pier 1) which add a fun summertime touch.

I used my copper coloured flatware (HomeSense last year).

I made these beach grass placecards with Clipart on my computer and taped them to some ceramic buffet markers.

Lime adorned stemware held refreshing ice water at each place setting.

The centerpiece was put together using gold coloured lanterns and faux beach grass in pots.

These woven baskets and faux grass are from Ikea.

The lanterns are from Home Dep0t and I added a faux candle and greenery inside.

I'm a fan of centerpieces where the items repeat down the middle of the table as each guest gets the same view.

I used a neutral sand coloured tablecloth (Walmart) and a light aqua toned table runner (Ikea) as the backdrop to the centerpiece.

The view towards the house.

Here, you can see the little candleir I have hung over the table in our cabana. It provides a nice ambiance at night when the candles are lit.

The view to the backyard.

We were able to enjoy a couple meals out here on the few nice days we've had with homemade margarita pizza with salad for dinner one night...

...and a favourite of mine for lunch, smashed avocado toast with balsamic reduction.

I am hopeful that we'll get a stretch of warm weather soon so I can set some more summertime tablescapes out here before it's time to think of fall.

How has the weather been in your neck of the woods?
Have you been able to eat outside often?

Thanks for visiting!

    1. Thanks so much Linda for stopping by and for your sweet comment! We can seem to string even two days of sunshine together around here. Thinking positive though and appreciating that there hasn't been any serious forest fires.

Another lovely tablescape. Aqua is one of my favorite color.Your napkin rings are beautiful. I love dragonflies. Would love to see the rest of your backyard. Would you mind sharing the recipe for your homemade margarita? Or is it the pizza that is homemade? Rain and cool here lately but June wasn't bad. Thanks for sharing! Take care! Yvonne

    1. Thank you so much Yvonne for your sweet comments on my summer tablescape! I appreciate you stopping by! The margarita pizza is just a bought thin crust topped with sundried tomato pesto, homegrown basil leaves, some mozza cheese and and sliced cherry tomatoes.

  5. Lori, I love the aqua colors in your tablescape, and the salad plates are so pretty. I know what you mean about the rain - we have had nothing here but rain in Calgary - usually accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. It seems we've spent the summer so far covering up the hostas and uncovering the hostas. Crazy weather. I hope the second half of July is more normal!
