I'm late to post this but in mid July, we did our first entertaining in months and even though it was just a simple backyard barbeque with my parents, it felt so good!
I set the table in our "cabana" and chose a summertime beach theme in shades of aqua and coral.
These wooden fish tags made the perfect placecard holders.
My copper flatware coordinated well with the orange tones.
Simple stemmed water goblets were selected for this table.
I chose a bamboo runner with blue stitching as the backdrop for my centerpiece.
Various beach inspired decor was arranged down the center.
Aqua coloured jars, shells and a starfish were included.
This Fitz & Floyd shell that I've had for years was the inspiration for the coral/orange part of the colour scheme.
I filled these Dollar Store buckets with faux beach grasses.
It was such a wonderful summer evening for our BBQ...
...and we had the protection from the sun's heat while eating in our little cabana.
I set the food on a separate table in the backyard and everyone helped themselves. Missing from this pic are the "burger fixings" plate and a bowl of fried onions.
What could be better than burgers and beer with family on a beautiful summer evening?!!
After dinner, we enjoyed time around the fire.
...we each made our own dessert!
Yum! Perfect summertime treat!
It was a lovely evening and after so much time in quarantine, it was wonderful to be able to expand our "bubble" and have my parents over for a visit.
I hope we get to do it again before the summer ends!
Thanks for visiting!

What a perfect getaway to enjoy with your parents. That's the hardest thing -- not to spend time with those we care about. But this combines wonderful family time, scrumptious summer foods and a tablescape that sends me off to the beach! Take care
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sandra for your kind words and compliments! It really was a special evening with my parents! ~Lori
DeleteLori - as usual, just a great and fun tablescape. So inspirational. Wish I could have transported myself to your backyard for a burger! BTW -- how do you get rid of mosquito's? Penny --- srmarymaid@aol.com
ReplyDeleteThank for your kind remarks Penny! Would have loved for you to stop by for a burger! :) When the mosquitoes get really bad, we have netting around our cabana area that we put down and that helps a lot.

DeleteLori, your table is beautiful. I love aqua - its so summery and goes with anything. It looks great with your coral and the F and F shell is gorgeous! Love the fish tags too and wondering where you got them? Hard to believe that we are six months into Covid - so glad you were able to expand your bubble and enjoy dinner with your parents! Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your sweet comment and kind words Kim. I got the wooden fish tags at our local Dollar Store - they actually say "Relax" on the opposite side - so multipurpose which I like!
DeleteDraga Lori,
ReplyDeleteMinunat!
Totul este foarte frumos. De la decor, meniu, pana la petrecerea timpului cu cei dragi! Este minunat cand poti face asta in aer liber si intr-un decor atat de frumos si racoros decorat.
