After taking down the Christmas decor earlier this month, I went with a more neutral look for the living room in hopes of creating a winter vibe.
The main colour scheme consists of white/brown/cream.
As it is a long narrow room, it is difficult to get a "full room" view but hopefully you'll get the idea through the following pics.
My coffee table centerpiece is a round basket of pine cones and candles in glass vases.
The cylinder vase inserts hold Epsom salts as "snow" and the bottoms are filled with smaller pine cones.
I love the look of "multiple pillows" on furniture in living rooms but unfortunately, it just isn't practical in our LR which we use a lot. (ie: Mr. Delight doesn't want to have to fling all the pillows on the floor whenever he sits down! And actually, I hate when guests have to do that as well.)
Thus, I've kept it simple with two of these oh-so-soft-furry pillows I got as a gift from my daughter for Christmas. The matching throw is seen in the pic below.
(Believe me, I've tried to drape or "throw the throw" beautifully across the chair but it always looks messy to me!)
On one end table, I've placed two of my brown metal pine cones, a trio of candles and a clock.
Some faux white hydrangeas in a metal container create a backdrop.
The other end table looks like this.
On the other side of the room, the fireplace is decorated for winter (to see more of the mantel, click HERE).
See the tall stand in behind the chair? I'll show you what's on there next.
I'm never quite sure what to call this stand, maybe its a "baker's rack" but usually we refer to it as an "etagere".
Here is a shelf by shelf look.
Shelf #1
I got the brown metal tree-scape at a local decor store (Evolve) and attached it to the etagere with some wire in a few places.
Sorry for the shadows...took these pics at night in a hurry!
Shelf # 2
I used some of my glass blocks on each shelf for an icy look.
Shelf #3
I rounded up a lot of my white and silver items along with snowflakes of course.
Shelf #4
Thanks for checking out my living room's winter look.
I must say, my favourite thing about this winter room is being able to warm myself by the fire!

ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know I found more blue stem glasses at Dollar Tree this week! I was thrilled to be able to add to my stash so I can now do 12 if needed. Someone told me they had them again & I ran right over. I hope your DTree is the same.
Warm hugs,
Rett
I love the contrast of brown and white, one of my favorite color combos! The dark pinecones with the white snow tips set that off nicely. It all goes well with the dark mantel and furnishings. That fireplace is gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful room. I have been looking for ideas to replace my empty spaces after the Christmas decorations are taken down. Do you have ideas where to purchase some of the smaller items? Again, beautiful decor.
