Summer Sailing Beach Tablescape

Have you ever been on a sailboat? I never have but that didn't stop me from dreaming up this summer sailing themed tablescape!

It all started with this sailboat I found at our local Dollar Store.  It definitely cost more than a dollar but was well worth it to me as I thought it made the perfect summer centerpiece.

Aqua coloured dishware and decor helped create a beach vibe.

The sailboat took center stage on a tray in the middle of the table.  I surrounded it with some fish netting, shells and blue glass beads.

This "Life is good at the beach" sign was perfect to set beside the sailboat.

A wooden anchor and a turquoise glass buoy were propped against the tray.

Glass hurricanes filled with shells and blue vase filler were set on each side of the sailboat.

These little crab buckets were filled with faux beach grasses and set next to the hurricanes.

A sand coloured tablecloth and light blue table runner provide the backdrop for the table decor.

Now, let's take a closer look at the place settings.

Multiple layers add to the character of the tablescape.  I started with a blue placemat topped with a round woven placemat.  Next, came a driftwood looking charger.

A white dinner plate acts as a base for the turquoise melamine salad plate.

I was so pleased to find these acrylic fish napkin rings at a local gift shop.

My aqua wine glasses with waves and fish on them were perfect for this table.

I chose to use my hammered-look silver flatware. These little boat-shaped dishes were filled with blue seaglass and a wooden fish sign.  A placecard could easily be added here.

Those of you who have been following my blog for awhile might know that too-tall centerpieces are a pet peeve of mine.

I took this pic after we had eaten but I wanted to show that I had removed the sailboat (easy to do as it was on the tray) for the meal and placed the hurricanes and beach grass buckets as a centerpiece.

That way, my guests could "relax" with sight lines unobstructed and conversation unimpeded by the tall sailboat centerpiece.

This was a fun tablescape to put together to create a summertime vibe in the dining room.

It would also be great for any sailing enthusiasts you might be having over for dinner.

Thanks for visiting!

  8. This table is stunning. Ironically I was at dollar tree last night and was picking up wooden whales, sailboats and anchors for a beach theme. This is perfection. While I didn't get to feature your table this week, I hae pinned it to my persona boards.
