Garden Themed Spring Tablescape

I am very late to share this tablescape as it was the one I designed for our Easter dinner.

However, since it has a garden-themed look to it, I thought you might not mind seeing it now anyway.

My inspiration began by creating a bunnies-in-the-carrot-patch type centerpiece which I'll explain more about later.

Thus, my colour scheme for the table included orange, green and brown.

The place settings were created using dishes in these colours and my copper flatware.

My copper mugs went perfectly as well.

Terracotta pots were given a white-wash with chalk paint to create a more weathered look. I then turned them into placecard and napkin holders.

Orange and green plaid napkins with bunny ear napkin rings were tucked inside the pots. A faux carrot with a chocolate bunny were added as extra embellishments.

To create a garden vibe, multiple terracotta pots filled with greenery were set atop a wood riser placed in the center of the table.

I used multiples of this faux greenery from Ikea (which comes in its own black pot) and set one in each of the terracotta pots.

This brown bunny sits at one end of the garden where I tucked in faux carrots to create a carrot patch. I added faux eggs and peat moss pots as well.

And this little guy is surveying the produce at the other end of the table.

Additional greenery was placed on top of the riser amidst the pots and I wove battery-operated fairy lights throughout for a bit of sparkle.

The garden themed decor was carried on to the chairs ...

...with more coordinating greenery being tied to the chair backs with burlap ribbon.

The table was set for four as we had my parents over for Easter dinner.

I tend to get a lot of questions asking where I put the food on my elaborately decorated tabletops so I thought I'd share this pic.  We always serve the food buffet style on our kitchen island.

Then guests take their fully loaded plate to the table. This Easter, I made turkey with all the trimmings.  My mom brought ham ...

... and this delicious lemon chocolate cheesecake.

So although this was designed for Easter, if you are having any type of garden-themed gathering, you might be able to use some of the ideas I've shown here.

After all, bunnies are a part of nature year round.

Thanks for visiting!

  2. This is adorable, Lori! I always serve dinners buffet style too. It makes it easier to plate, and allows the fun like you've created on the table! I'm also happy to see I'm not the only one who has a hard time getting it all together to be able to post it immediately before or after the event!
