This Christmas, I decided to decorate my kitchen sideboard with a hot cocoa and gingerbread theme. I even made it functional and created a hot chocolate station!
With this handy and festive set-up, I have to say, I've been helping myself to way too many mugfuls of this delicious treat!
Let me take you on a tour of how I created this hot cocoa station.
Inspiration came from this Christmas Blend Hot Cocoa sign I got last year at Michael's. I placed it front and center over the sideboard.
I placed a red/black buffalo check runner on top. Then came two small Christmas trees on each end which were decorated with little gingerbread men ornaments.
This is the view on the far side.
I got the Oh Snap! sign at Michaels (online) this year. The Santa cream/sugar set is something I've had for years as are the wooden gingerbread men. The quilted gingerbread people are from a local drug store in the decor section.
I'll talk about what's in the middle section later but let's move to the far end.
This is the set-up over here.
A single serve coffee maker is ideal for making a quick cup of hot chocolate and an Eat, Drink & Be Merry sign from Homesense a few years back expresses the perfect sentiment. More quilted gingerbread men are hanging out here.
And back to the middle of the sideboard...
...I placed some red/white snowflake mugs up front with a gingerbread ornament.
I used a tray to hold the mason jars filled with cocoa powder and other goodies to put in the hot chocolate.
I thought these gingerbread shaped shortbread cookies were perfect for setting on top of the whipped cream on your cocoa.
Chocolate wafer rolls and chocolate chips are some other favs.
Of course, there are marshmallows and candy canes too! I embellished some of the jars with red/white gingham ribbon and a row of gingerbread people stand ready to help serve.
I added a stack of plates for any goodies that may be served in addition to the hot chocolate.
This plate says it all!
If you look to the far end of the sideboard...
...you'll see I added this vintage sleigh and attached stockings to the doors of the cabinet.
And on this end, you'll be greeted by my gingerbread men themed tree.
I got these little ornaments online through Amazon this year.
So cute!
And these ones are adorable too!
I'm really enjoying this hot cocoa bar but it would be even better if I could have company over to share a mug or two with me! Oh, the celebrations we'll have when this pandemic is over!
In the meantime, I'll be drinking alone as unfortunately, Mr Delight is not a fan of sweet drinks.
Do you have a hot cocoa bar set-up in your home this Christmas?
If so, I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am!

Love this! Can I ask you the bread of your Santa creamer set?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I'm afraid I've had that Santa creamer set for over 20 years and it doesn't have any markings on it. I actually won it as a Christmas party prize. ~ Lori

Where did your cups come from that seems to be one of the main items you don’t list. Help!
