St Patrick's Day Tea-scape

St Patrick's Day falls on a Saturday this year which makes it the perfect time for parties and get-togethers to celebrate the wearin' o'  the green.
I wonder how many weddings on the 17th will embrace a shamrock theme as well. However, an Irish celebration doesn't have to be a full fledged bash with lots of green beer.  It can be as simple as sharing a spot of tea with friends or family.

With that in mind, I've created a St Patrick's Day Tea-scape.

I brought out my white and gold teapot set and embellished it with shamrock vinyl cling-ons.

A little pot o' gold sits front and center.

These green cups fit the theme perfectly.

I've had this Happy St Patrick's Day plaque for years - from HomeSense.

At least one of my leprechauns has to come out and play on this special day.

I bought three of these fellows years back at a local drug store.

Two burlap sacks filled with greenery and shamrocks provide a backdrop for the tea-scape.

Green cloth napkins and some twinkle lights drape the edge of the woven basket tray.

Square shamrock plates (HomeSense years ago) would be perfect for a piece of Irish coffee cake.

My gold-en flatware coordinates with the gold coins scattered on the table.

My late great grandmother was from Ireland.  She tried to book passage to America on the Titanic but it was fully booked - what a blessing from God that turned out to be.

I hope I've inspired you to get out whatever green decor/dishes you might have, put the kettle on and celebrate St Patrick's Day with a friend.

Thanks for visiting!
I'll be linking this post to these wonderful blog parties:

  1. Oh my Goodness, Lori - really - the Titanic??! Wow, what a story for the family to tell. There is so much I love here, those little square shamrock plates are adorable, the cross is beautiful, and your tea set looks great with the shamrock embellishments! I have to pin this to my St. Patrick's Day board!! Would love to share a green beer with you sometime!!

  2. What a charming tea table -- my Irish great-grandparents would approve. It's not always about the beer, though that can be very merry indeed. How clever to use the vinyl cling-ons on your beautiful china. I've not thought of those things since my daughter was small.

  3. Lori, what a clever, great idea to use the shamrock cling-ons! Where did you get them? It's hard to afford and store tableware for every season and occasion and this is an easy and inexpensive solution.
