Winter Luncheon Buffet

We are in the midst of some heavy snowfall accumulations around our area.  It's fun to go out and enjoy some of the winter sports that the snowy weather allows but it's even better to come indoors afterwards to a warm lunch served on an appropriately decorated buffet.

The current view out our front windows...

...and down the street.

In keeping with the weather, I designed a winter themed backdrop for a buffet style luncheon.

I set it up on our dining room table for easy access.

A combination of practical and decorative items were arranged together.

The left side of the buffet display ...

Ice skates speak of outdoor activity while the white bowls await some hot soup.

I chose clear acrylic-handled flatware for a cool look.

Beside the bowls, a snowflake, a snowball and a pine cone give a wintry vibe.

Below, you can see how I used two small decorative cases to hold the plates and bowls.

In the middle of the table, I set a small sleigh on top of a wood charger.

White napkins add a snow-like effect.

The buffet set-up sits on a checked blue & brown table runner. A string of battery-operated mini lights add some ambiance.

Snowflake mugs are perfect for the theme...

...as are these snowflake napkin rings.

And what's a buffet without some food!
Potato Dill Chowder

Buns and quinoa bread

Mini butter tarts

And there we have the start of a cozy winter luncheon. I added a meat & cheese plate and a pasta salad to round out the meal.

Why not set the scene for your next
apres winter-sport meal?

A few decorative touches go a long way in making the fun had outdoors continue once inside.

Thanks for visiting!

  3. Hey, it looks great! On matters of style, swim with the current, on matters of principle, stand like a rock.
Most people will never be great in #Style, BUT YOU ARE ;-).

  4. This post jumped out at me from A Stroll Thru Life. The combination of dark wood, white accessories, and subtle lighting totally drew me in. This is beautifully done, and using the decorative cases is genius! Thank you for the snow treat - I love snow, but live in Southern California.

  10. The view outside your window is gorgeous! That is what it normally looks like here. This year we have had no snow to speak of. I finally put my winter décor away and pulled out my Valentines. It looked so out of place with our warm weather. Your buffet is styled beautifully! so much attention to detail. Thanks for sharing it with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann
