It is fast approaching the scariest time of the year and while I don't like to play up that part of Halloween, it is fun to set the scene which I've done with this Halloween buffet centerpiece. It will serve as an appropriately themed backdrop for some appetizers and drinks to be served later this week.
Let me take you through the spooky details.
Two watchful owls were captured under this cloche and make the perfect centerpiece to my display.
Their all-knowing eyes survey the scene.
Skulls stand on guard on each side of the owls.
And next to them, black lanterns add an eerie glow.
Fairy lights wrapped around a faux candle help create the effect I was after.
However, the illumination doesn't stop the vermin from scurrying around the table.
Black and white plates, napkins and flatware coordinate with the decor...
...as do the black rats!
Gnarly branches with LED microdot lights provide the backdrop to the scene - almost like stars in the midnight sky.
Bats circle above.
A black raven lurks in the nearby branches.
I haven't bought any new Halloween decor in ages so everything here may be quite familiar to those who read my blog around this time of year. I like the challenge of trying to use what's on hand and make it look a bit different.
The fairy lights are the only recent purchase and are from Costco. The black & white checked tablecloth is from Red Apple.
Will you be hosting any Halloween gatherings this year?
Wishing you a Happy Halloween!
Thanks for visiting!

While I am not one to decorate with mice (we have too many live ones around here!) I do have to say that one on the silvery pumpkins makes a great statement! I love your black and white and silvery theme.

ReplyDeleteThis is so cool. Spooky but not bloody. I love the detailed touches like the mice and the way you used the small string of lights and lit skulls. Such a fun effect.
