Grape Harvest Celebration Buffet

I'm excited to be joining a group of very talented ladies in a Fall Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by Chloe of Celebrate & Decorate.  Although fall is not quite here yet, now is the time to plan for any dining occasions you may have coming up and you'll find lots of inspiration in the links I'll have listed at the end of my post.

Fall signals the beginning of the grape harvest in the vineyards of many wineries around our province and that is the theme I chose for my tablescape.

Rather than the usual tablescape though, I chose to set up a
buffet-scape for outdoor entertaining.

A grape harvest celebration buffet

I began by creating this grape-themed centerpiece with a thrift-store grapevine wreath placed in a woven tray.

I arranged faux grape clusters into the wreath.

A footed hurricane was set in the center.

Faux grapes and a coordinating candle were nestled inside.

Some faux fall grasses provide a backdrop on the table and a few other decorative elements were included.

Identical footed hurricanes were placed at either end of the table. Grapevine spheres with battery-operated mini-lights were placed inside.

A tall black lantern stands behind the centerpiece.

The flatware was placed in these rustic vases I recently found at our local thrift store. They were accented with faux grapes to fit the theme.

Empty wine bottles were also given some embellishment.

I've had these grape patterned plates for years. They were tucked in a wooden crate.

Purple compote dishes coordinated with the colour scheme.

Cloth napkins in purple and green were arranged with grapevine wreath napkin rings.

This buffet was set up on the patio area in our backyard.

What's a grape harvest celebration without some wine & cheese?

Here's a different way to use your dessert dishes...

...try using them for salad instead!

Although I know my relatives whose family own a winery would rather celebrate at the end of the grape harvest season, we've gotten an early start :)

Thanks for visiting!

  12. Since I live smack in the middle of Niagara Wine Country, your table really speaks to me! Our grape harvest gets underway in mid September and I have been watching the vines go from spindly little twigs to plush vines loaded with juicy grapes! You can bet I will be borrowing some of your table elements for some upcoming casual wine tasting evenings with friends!
