Bring on the red & white...
...of our beloved maple leaf Canadian flag.
With the nice weather of late, I chose to set the table in our backyard cabana.
A white tablecloth and a red/white striped runner (from Christmas) became the backdrop for the tablescape.
I recently purchased a few of these kind of lanterns and used them for my centerpiece.
A red lantern was set in the middle of the table with white ones on either side of it.
Next to the lantern, I placed mason jars filled with faux white flowers and a couple of Canadian flags.
I was pleased to get this shot with the flags blowing in the breeze.
The view towards our patio area which is also done in red and white.
The place settings are anchored with a red placemat and square white charger. Maple leaf printed kerchiefs from the Dollar Store make terrific napkins.
Red and white plates with a small bowl on top are flanked by red-handled flatware.
The stemware includes a red wine glass and water glass with frozen cranberries to match the table.
I got the festive red wine glasses in the clearance section at Pier 1 recently.
Themed placecards were made by gluing a confetti type foil maple leaf to a plain white name card.
Now to come up with a menu for the occasion...
...although I find that any type of food always tastes better when eaten outdoors.
I'm sure we will be enjoying more than one meal out here in honour of Canada's 150th birthday.
This will be a special Canada Day that goes on for a month if not all summer!
If you are Canadian, I hope you enjoy your celebrations on the 1st and for my American friends, best wishes for your national holiday on the 4th!
Thanks for visiting!

Happy Canada Day! I'm sure you'll have many celebrations to enjoy! The simplicity of only using two colors allows each element to really pop. The variety of textures and patterns and shapes makes it interesting. I think I could keep your table this way all summer!

Super cute table! I am reading this in the car on the way home from a week's vacation in Sioux Lookout, Ontario and have been enjoying all the patriotic decor being displayed by the businesses and residents. You have lots of great ideas that could be used by us US folk too for our Fourth of July next week. Have a great Canada Day! Jane
