This year, my winter mantel is dedicated to my husband's love of downhill skiing. While we both enjoy the sport, he has a real passion for it and makes every effort to get to our local ski resort as often as he can.
As a Christmas gift this year, our daughter had this very special sign made for him.
He was thrilled with it as the words sum up exactly how he feels.
And I loved it because of its rustic design and of course, I wanted to incorporate it into my winter mantel.
First thing I brought out was this ski decoration and it was placed beside the sign.
I put together some frosty arrangements for each side of the mantel.
I hung snowflakes from the metal wall-art that replaced the mirror that usually hangs over the mantel.
Below the mantel, more snowflakes hang from the curtain rod.
On the hearth, I placed a wooden crate filled with birch...
...and a black lantern with a few snowflakes inside.
The snowflake lanterns have battery-operated lights inside.
When lit, they create a cozy glow at night.
A similar effect is created by the twig lights I placed on the birch.
For any locals who ski ...
...you might recognize the name of the black diamond run on the sign that was buried under the snow in the previous pictures ;)
Now, it's time to hit the slopes!
Thanks for visiting!
