Fall Mantel 2016

This year, I decided to go with a more neutral colour scheme for my fall mantel and by that, I mean no bright oranges or vibrant fall colours which was hard for me.  In the end though, I was happy with how it turned out.

I left the sunburst mirror up and based my colour scheme around it.

These wooden block *F*A*L*L* letters were strung on a wire (had precut holes in the sides) with grapevine balls in between and took center stage on the mantel.

I placed them on top of a stack of small birch logs in a bit of an off kilter manner which seemed appropriate for fall.

Black vases with gold coloured faux leaves sit on each end of the mantel.

I always have white mini-lights woven into whatever seasonal decor I have on the mantel. They add a bit of sparkle to the display.

Below, is the only new item on the mantel. Mr. Delight gave me this Pier 1 gold antler candleholder back on Valentine's Day this year. It was a total surprise and he picked it out himself.

I love it and thought it went perfectly with this fall decor.

Pine cones, faux florals, fern fronds and leaves were tucked into the bare spaces.

I used a wide burlap ribbon as a runner under the birch.

Adding a silver pumpkin with the gold leaves and the brassy tones of the mirror shows that mixing metals is possible .

I cut these leaf shapes (pattern from clipart on computer) out of cardstock and taped them to the curtain rod below the mantel.

Two comfy wingback chairs sit ready for those that want to warm themselves by the fire.

A fur pillow and soft throw blanket are available if extra coziness is required.

This wooden crate was placed on top of a small trunk and filled with birch and more fall decor items.

While it was hard to let go of summer, our weather has definitely turned fall-like now and I'm ready to get the rest of my home fall-i-fied.

Are you ready for it?

  9. We are on the same page this year. I am a color person, but mixed it up and did my living room mantle in neutral tones as well. Love how yours has come together. My favorite thing has to the birch logs, but it is all beautiful and cozy! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  11. Your mantel is just beautiful in all of its "naturalness!" I think you definitely achieved a warm and cozy look without a ton of color.

    Happy Week!
