My 2016 Winter Mantel doesn't
beat around the bush,
it doesn't mince any words,
in fact, it's hard to miss
what it's all about.
In our home, we have an appreciation for SNOW and I've made it the theme for my winter mantel in a not so subtle way.
It all began with wooden letters that were painted white, a set of mini-skis and a few decorative snowflakes.
Some snow covered pine cones add a rustic touch.
Evergreens and snowflakes in a birch covered vase were placed on one side of the mantel.
A white moose stands in the spotlight thanks to the white mini-lights I have running along the back of the mantel.
A snow-like white feather boa and these faux snowballs create a wintry feel.
Although the items are meant to be cold in appearance, I like the contrast of the warmth from the candlelight...
...and from the fire below.
The cool with the warm tones help convey the feeling you get coming in from some outside fun in the snow to the cozy fireside.
Let's take a look at how I decorated the hearth area of the fireplace.
Snowflakes were hung from the curtain rod that is attached to the underside of the mantel.
A chair with a snuggly throw is ready to curl up in.
Wow! A bucket of snowballs amazingly doesn't melt when set next to the fire.
Some vintage ski poles are propped next to an urn filled with birch.
Some night time views...
It's great that we can see the real snow outside the front windows as we enjoy the coziness of the faux look inside.
Thanks for visiting!
