Canada Day Decor on Kitchen Sideboard

Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians! Although things are definitely different in the world these days and we won't be able to celebrate in our usual way, we can still acknowledge how proud we are of our wonderful country and how thankful we are to live here.   I've been doing that by decorating my home with lots of patriotic decor.

Today, I'm sharing how I've styled the sideboard in our kitchen for Canada Day.

This portion of the sideboard got more of a Canadian Cottage look by using some little metal houses I got last year at Michael's against a backdrop of flowers and flags.

Everything was placed on a red and white patterned runner and red/white gingham napkins add a homey vibe.

I've set this area up as one might for some type of buffet served meal with plates and flatware placed inside various containers.

I found this mug last year at a local grocery store and thought it quite appropriate.  LOL

The shelf above the sideboard was also given a few red touches. I always leave a bit of space between the decor on the sideboard to allow for mixing drinks as well as to break up the decor into vignettes.

This Home Sweet Home sign was attached to the round metal wall art above the sideboard and a few flags were added.

This is exactly how I feel about living in Canada.

This end of the sideboard got more of a Canadiana vibe with some iconic Canadian symbolism represented here.

I love this moose I found a couple years ago at Walmart - so perfect for my theme.

A couple of little faux evergreens create a forest-like backdrop.

I've had these canoe-shaped pickle dishes for a long time and just love using them for Canada Day decor. I added the flag vinyl cling-on to the top canoe.  The oar was a recent find at a gift shop out of town.

Dollar store flags were set inside a milk glass vase.

This red lantern gives a vintage/cottage/camping type feel to the display.

Red gingham ribbon was tied around faux candles with flag picks tucked inside.

I created this sign on my computer and put it in a black frame.

This area of my home is all ready to celebrate our national holiday and I enjoy seeing its festive look whenever I enter the kitchen.

Do you do much patriotic decorating? It's really not that difficult to do. Try taking a look around your home for things that suit your colour scheme and then get some flags from the Dollar Store and you'll be all set!

Thanks for visiting!

  7. Red and White has a special place in my Danish Heritage heart. Not Canadian, I can appreciate the clean white and brilliant red, as every holiday, birthday, anniversary even weddings were red and white in my family. Always the national colors were present in some way in family celebrations, and your post brought all that back! Thanks, Sandi from MMonday
