Lemons and Forsythia in Spring Decor

I've included lots of faux lemons and forsythia in this year's spring decor.  I love the bright yellow colour of both of them and in these uncertain times, it has been very uplifting to see their cheery presence scattered throughout the house. By adding black and white buffalo check, the effect is even more dramatic.

Here is a look at how I incorporated the faux forsythia and lemons into the spring decor on our kitchen sideboard.

Faux forsythia stems, from the Dollar Store years ago, were placed in a tall glass vase as a backdrop.

A white pitcher was placed beside it along with some plaid bowls (Pier 1 a few years back) and a little duckling.

This crackled finish duckling is one of a set of three. He has been in my stash for such a long time, I thought it was time he came out to play.

Faux lemons were placed in a black wire basket atop a wooden box with a coordinating cloth napkin.

This little "squeeze the day" sign was a recent purchase from the local Pharmasave gift section in pre-quarantine times.

More lemons were added to these bowls and they were set on top of a stack of appetizer plates.

A black and white check pillow along with a yellow one were set in a white crate to the side of the sideboard.

I always keep the middle section of the sideboard clear of decor so we can set glasses and/or mix drinks there. Since no one is coming over in these quarantine days, not much room is needed!  LOL

Above the sideboard, I changed out the former shiplap "gather" sign for this metal wall art I had sitting around.

I added this "Home Sweet Home" sign (a Christmas gift from my daughter) and wove some forsythia through the metal openings.

Small faux lemon slices fit perfectly on the edge of the sign.

Here is the grouping on the opposite end of the sideboard. In the corner, you can see where I placed a basket containing a coordinating throw blanket and another buffalo check pillow.

Forsythia stems were placed in this farmhouse style vase.

These are the other two ducks in the set and they look right at home in my spring display.

Two buffalo check mugs were placed on top of more white plates.

Gold flatware was placed inside a yellow pot adding a bit of shine to the vignette.

Buffalo check ribbon was tied around the faux candles on this end...

...and on the wire basket at the opposite side.

I'm so happy to be greeted with this sunny vibe whenever I walk into the kitchen.

And a positive atmosphere is definitely needed right now when we're spending so much time in our home during these days of quarantine.

Quarantine Birthday Tablescape

It was my birthday earlier this month and of course, due to the current pandemic, there would be no going out for dinner or getting together with family for the celebration.  It meant I would be marking the occasion at home under quarantine. We often enjoy at-home festivities for special occasions anyway, but Mr Delight went above and beyond to make this one special for me.

The first thing he did was let me design my own quarantine birthday tablescape!  LOL  Naturally, I chose a fireside location and he moved a table from off of our sundeck in front of the fireplace.

A white tablecloth with light aqua coloured table runners that crisscrossed the table provided the backdrop for this trio of cylinder vases centerpiece.

The cylinder vases have inserts on top in which I placed crushed blue stone vase filler and a light green votive in a glass candleholder.

In the bottom, I set three of these little wrapped gifts on top of some glass bead vase filler. The gifts are actually small Lego blocks I wrapped up many years ago for previous birthday party decorations. A faux boxwood wreath (also a DIY project awhile back) was placed around the bottom of the vase.

More of the little presents were scattered on the table.

The place settings started with a placemat of greenery, a white charger and dinner plate topped by a blue floral-shaped salad plate.

Cloth napkins that coordinated with the table runners added another decorative touch.

Little white birdie napkin rings gave a spring vibe to the table.

A tulip-shaped wine glass and a water goblet were the required stemware.

Mr Delight prepared and served the entire meal which included barbequed steak, prawns, baked potato, grilled veggies and a  tossed salad. It was all super delicious!

Although he didn't make the cake, he managed to find some that I had in the freezer and made it look special for me!

Mr Delight also did all the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen while I got to sit and relax.

I thoroughly enjoyed my quarantine birthday at home and although I would have liked to see family members, my 58th birthday is one I won't soon forget.
(Me, feeling very pampered!)

Have you had to celebrate a special occasion during this pandemic?

Green Grass and Sunshine Tablescape for Spring

I hope you all had a happy Easter and that you were able to make the best of any difficult circumstances the pandemic might have caused because of social distancing.  We had a lovely Easter dinner for two and got to have a virtual happy hour chat with our grown children via Facetime which was so nice.

Today, I'm sharing this green and yellow spring tablescape I put together back in March when I needed a pick-me-up from all the winter weather we were having.

The combination of these little pots of faux greenery...

...along with yellow dishes and tulips...

...made me think of green grass and sunshine, a perfect mix for a spring tablescape!

I ordered the little pots of faux grass (set of 6) on Amazon (not sponsored but I've provided link below) awhile back and I am very happy with them. On arrival, they were a bit flat on top from the packaging but I used a blow dryer to fluff them up and they are perfect now.

(This is for Amazon Canada but you can do a search on Amazon.com)

The place settings began with a yellow placemat topped with a gold rimmed charger, yellow dinner plate and a white appetizer plate to hold the faux grass.

These cute little faux plants would make wonderful favours for dinner guests.

Yellow cloth napkins were set at the top of the place setting.

Placecards were tucked inside the ceramic white bird napkin ring.

The stemware coordinated with the table...

...with an amber coloured wine glass and clear water goblet.

I thought my gold flatware looked best with the yellow tones on the table.

The centerpiece flows along the middle of the table...

...and consists of a faux greenery garland with some string lights added...

... and pieces of faux eucalyptus and yellow tulips tucked in here and there.

A small white birdie is perched on each of the wooden risers at opposite ends of the table.

This tablescape made me happy when I set it about a month ago...

...and now that the real grass and sunshine of spring are appearing, I'm doubly happy! It'll be nice to be able to spend more time outside during this season of quarantine.
