Summer Nights

We have had some beautiful summer nights lately where we've gotten to enjoy our backyard to its full potential.  With the many wild/forest fires raging in our province and thousands being evacuated from their homes (some already having lost them), being able to enjoy the comforts of home is definitely something we are not taking for granted.  We are so thankful there are no fires in our immediate vicinity and are praying for those affected.

The addition of outdoor lighting a couple years back created an inviting atmosphere in our backyard and has made us want to spend more time out here.

We have a covered cabana area for dining and an open patio seating area for gathering around the fire bowl.

Although there is a campfire ban in place, we are still able to use our propane fire bowl.

While it is not quite the same as a crackling real wood fire, it does create a lovely ambiance.

It would be so nice if you could pop by, have a seat in one of these chairs and experience it with us.

Here are some different views of the backyard space that you'd see.

I have a combination of faux and real candles in various lanterns as well as solar lights in the plants for additional mood lighting.

Below, you see the round wooden cover (Mr Delight made) that we have on the fire bowl when it's not in use so that it becomes a table.   When the fire bowl is on, it gets moved onto this table that covers the propane gas tank.

I'm glad we have spent the last week enjoying this area as it seems the smoke from the fires is moving in today.
We are concerned for our fellow B.C.'ers and pray for their safety and well being at this tragic time.

Thanks for visiting!

  3. I LOVE your outdoor space! It is beautiful! I want to cover some or all of our patio as it is in full sun, all day til about 5 or 6 pm. When we built this house I thought I wanted a full sun patio since we had lived in the woods for almost 30 years. Now I wish it was covered:):) What plants do you have that are out in the sun? Do you bring the canopy in, in the winter? Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful area!!!

  13. Your outdoor space looks beautiful and I'm sure you enjoy it greatly. I really like the idea of solar lights in the planters for mood lighting. I never would've thought of that. We used to live in the Pacific Northwest so I know Summer evenings where you are can be divine (it's a little too hot where I live now). I'm so sad that you are having those awful wildfires again. Praying for your protection and that they will soon be extinguished.
    Blessings,
    Patti
