I am still in transition mode when it comes to changing from winter to spring decor. We got a big dump of snow last weekend and it has been hard to motivate myself to move into the next season.
With that in mind, I decided to create more of an everyday type tablescape using black lanterns and a buffalo check tablecloth in black and white.
I began by placing three of these black lanterns on a black runner in the center of the table.
Two lanterns had grapevine balls lit with battery-operated lights inside.
I hid the battery pack inside a strip of burlap ribbon that was folded over on the end.
The middle lantern had a candle inside.
Some faux hydrangeas in square vases fill the spaces between the lanterns. I scattered petals from them to soften the look.
The buffalo check tablecloth is from a local Red Apple store. I layered it over a plain white one as it was a bit short for my table.
And the layering continued with black placemats and a black table runner.
Then came the dish stack in black and white.
Stemware included both a black champagne style glass and clear water goblet.
I created these unique placecard holders using little chalkboards stuck into grapevine balls.
These were placed on top of white napkins folded accordion style with napkin rings inside the bowls.
I brought out some faux fur to add a cozy vibe to the dining room.
A buffalo check pillow goes with the decor as well.
I think this tablescape could be used for an everyday occasion in any season but...
...with so much snow still visible outside the windows, I'm afraid it's feeling mighty winter-y to me.
Hopefully, spring is on its way!

This is so cute- love the black and white buffalo check as a base. Very creative idea for the lanterns. The bowls look cute with their grapevine balls and chalkboard placecards. We got more snow too, then a partial melt, then a bit more. I guess winter wants to have ithe last word!
ReplyDeleteLori, I just love the white and black. So elegant to me and yet such simplicity. I had to pin this one girl. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteGosh, Lori, I love this table. I always forget how much I love buffalo check prints until I see them! This is a great table: elegant and warm. Thanks for sharing. Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
ReplyDeleteLove this table!!! Buffalo checks have always been a favorite of mine so your table really caught my eye. I like the looks of your plate stack, the white square plates play off the tablecloth well, and yet the round plate and bowl is just enough to break up all the squares. I know what you mean about this transitional period, we have snow on the ground as well, so it's hard to justify bringing out all the spring stuff. Here's to warmer weather soon!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so modern and dramatic! Black and white are always in style but adding the buffalo check adds a stunning element. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Lori! I love the black and white theme. The lanterns are perfect and the dishes beautiful. Gorgeous setting! Have a wonderful weekend. Maria

ReplyDeleteBlack and white is classic and you have done a lovely job with them. Let's face it, in a lot of the country Winter is still in full swing. This is a great transitional table! Lovely job!
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect for the transition! I think it would be hard to pull out the spring with snow still on the ground. I love the tablecloth. B&W are always gorgeous and faux fur is so in right now. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
