Autumn in the Mountains Tablescape

I'm thrilled to be joining a talented group of ladies this week in an Autumn Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by Chloe at Celebrate and DecorateBe sure to check out all the other participating blogs with the links I'll have at the end of this post.

Autumn...this wonderful season conjures up images of gorgeous colourful landscapes...
(nearby pathway I like to walk on)

...and cozy family times often gathered around the table.

Using fall colours, I set out to create an autumnal tablescape that felt warm and inviting.

The kind of table you would like to sit at when coming in from an afternoon spent out here enjoying the mountain scenery.
(minutes from our door)

I began with these global fusion votive holders by Partylite which I've had for many years.

I set them on brass pedestals and centered them in wire baskets with faux berries tucked inside.

Faux pumpkins and pine cones were added to the wire baskets.

I put together three of these and lined them up as a centerpiece for the table. Two additional candleholders were placed in between the end baskets.

An orange tablecloth and a beige table runner complemented the dark brown placemats.

The place setting

A small beaded faux pumpkin and a piece of berry garland added a decorative touch to the salad plate.

These gold leaf-shaped plates were from HomeSense last year.

They were placed on a dark brown dinner plate and copper coloured charger.

I chose to use my gold-en flatware and plaid napkins.

I love to create placecard holders that add interest to the table.

Here, I took a clear glass and filled it with orange acrylic pieces and mini pine cones. I tied a leaf-shaped placecard I made on to a larger pine cone and added a faux leaf.

I also tied a piece of raffia to the bottom of the glass and used twine to tie on a pine cone.

Additional embellishment was added in the form of faux leaf decor attached to the backs of the chairs.

I simply cut apart a long garland and tied the stem on to the chair with twine.  Then, I covered the tie-up with a piece of burlap ribbon ensuring that there was nothing lumpy for when my guests sit back.

You can see below that my fall tablescape coordinates with the decor on my sideboard in the background. (see more here).

It was a lot of fun designing this autumn themed tablescape and I hope you enjoyed seeing it.

We definitely appreciated its cozy vibe after spending an autumn day outside enjoying the beauty of our nearby mountains and the lovely fall foliage.

Do you need some inspiration for a fall get-together or your upcoming Thanksgiving table?

  1. Your Fall tablescape is just as beautiful as the area you live in. I could just imagine taking a long walk on a nice Fall day through the majestic mountains and then end the day at such a warm and inviting Autumn table. I fell in love with your lovely candleholders. They are so perfect for that warm glow and brings out the warmth of the colors in your tablescape from the orange tablecloth and leaf dish and the array of colorful leaves for your chair decor. I truly felt I was outside among the foliage when being inside at your table. Home sweet home on an Autumn evening.

  4. Lori, the ribbon-tied leaves on the chairs were the first thing I noticed! I love that simple ribbon appearance when viewing the table - like ribbon on a package. The package is beautiful. Your plate stack is striking, and I especially liked the raffia & pine cone tied to the stemware. Your landscape is gorgeous, and how fortunate you are to live so close to being able to get out there and enjoy nature! Happy Fall.

  7. Well first of all, those mountains! Breathtaking! It's hard to get in the fall mood in Alabama where it was in the 100s last weekend, but your table has certainly put me in the mood! I always love your tables Lori, you pay so much attention to every detail, and on this table the stand out for me is the place cards in the fall filled glasses! Such a brilliant touch! I also love the fall filled wire baskets down the center, another creative idea. And of course the chair backs, that really makes an occasion special, when you can sit in a decorated chair! So much inspiration here, thank you!
