Anniversary Table for Two

Mr Delight and I will have been married 34 years on October 2nd.  Our work schedules are such that we don't always get to mark the occasion on the actual day.  Thus, I try to plan ahead and when we do get the opportunity, things are in place to celebrate in style.

I love the fact that we chose to get married in the fall.  Whenever this season rolls around, it brings with it a sense of romance and a renewal of our appreciation for our relationship.

With that in mind, I set out to create a romantic fireside table for two.  Depending on what day we celebrate, we can cook a special meal together or order in and have the perfect setting to dine in.

While it is nice to go out to a restaurant for the food and service, they often lack the table decor and intimacy we prefer when celebrating special occasions such as this.

In order to accomplish this set up, I moved the living room furniture back into manageable positions and brought in a round table from our sundeck to place in front of our fireplace.

A round white tablecloth covered the table and provided a neutral backdrop for table decor. The mantel had already been fall-i-fied which you can see more of here.

Naturally, to create a romantic vibe to the table, the centerpiece featured candlelight.

I started with this Savannah hurricane candleholder by Partylite which I've had for years.

I set it in fall floral wreath and added a few pine cones and faux leaves.

I joined two leaf-shaped placemats underneath it to create a small table runner.

Two of these sparkly votive holders were placed on each side of the hurricane in the center.

Orange and brown with a bit of cranberry were the colours chosen for the place settings.

I've had these leaf shaped bowls for years now but they are still a favourite for fall.  I placed a little faux pumpkin inside for fun.

Cranberry coloured flatware rests on a dark brown woven placemat.

These orange napkin rings were a great deal I found  on clearance at Pier 1 - $1.19 ea marked down from $5.99 (CA).

Here's a hint to add extra embellishment to your place settings - always tuck a little extra decoration into the napkin ring.  It can be a sprig of greenery or in this case, a piece of faux berry garland.

While it's nice to have a romantic table set for daytime use...

...it provides the best ambiance in the evening.

So I have the table set and the champagne glasses ready to be filled...we just need to see how our work schedules line up and we can celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary exactly how we like...at home!

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Lori,
I love this tablescape. I wish that my hubby and I would have gotten married in the Fall. I love Fall weddings. Instead we had to get married at the end of July, in Las Vegas, scheduled around a poker tournament he was in. How is that for romance. You have given me some ideas for a romantic dinner for two this Fall.
