For years, I have displayed my crèche or nativity scene in the same way with all the figures arranged the same way on a shelf on the etagere. This year, I wanted to update the look and make it stand out more. After all, the scene it depicts is what Christmas is all about.
I had seen a few examples on Pinterest where a cloche or bell jar was used to display the main figures of the nativity.
So I included Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, the manger and a lamb under the cloche. I set it on a glass cake plate with a green wreath around it and the cow and donkey nestled at the bottom.
Maybe it is just that it is a different look than what I had before but I was pleased with how it seemed to stand out more from amongst my other Christmas décor.
I did not get a picture of it but I also put a little battery operated light under the cloche so the scene is lit up at night.
In the past, this is often how I displayed the nativity scene and all its figures.
I may put it all out like this again in years to come but for now, I am liking the simpler version.
Christmas displays are often part of family traditions and sometimes it is hard to change things up. Friends and family have had positive comments about the new look for my nativity scene so I am glad I went for the update to this important decoration.
Please share how you display your nativity scene if you have one.
Thanks for visiting!

Just beautiful Cindy. It is striking, love the new love for the nativity. You have certainly inspired me. I'll start decorating as soon as Thanksgiving is over.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done! Love the farm animals around the base.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!
Blessings,
Cindy
What a great idea! I am going to do that this year in my home. I actually have 4 or 5 nativities and usually lay them all out. I have two new kitties this year so I wasn't going to display it. Now I can. Thank for the great idea!!
ReplyDeleteTraditions are important but sometimes a little change results in a new appreciation. You are still maintaining the tradition of displaying the nativity and you haven't gotten rid of your other pieces so it is not like you can never go back. It looks beautiful and puts the focus on the new family.
ReplyDeleteI love how you've displayed your nativity set! You've really highlighted the Holy Family under the cloche. Isn't it interesting how something can be elevated to a new level when you put it under glass? The last several years, I've displayed my Holy Family in a lantern on the fireplace hearth. I'll probably do the same this year. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I like how it features the main characters of the Holy event.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully put together. I also like the version with the trees in the background.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this look! We have several Nativity scenes displayed in our home.
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by to say I hope that you are enjoying a wonderful long holiday weekend.
May you have good food, friends and family.
That is a gorgeous picture! Is it snow on the ground outside and you took the pic at the blue hour (twilight). Thanks for joining Home Sweet Home!
