It may surprise you but I've never actually created a Halloween mantel before. This year, I decided if I could do one without buying a single new item, I'd give it a try.
So putting a lot of my old Halloween décor together, this is what I came up with.
A Halloween mantel in black, white and silver.
Inspiration began with this wicked witch that I've had for years.
She found a dimly lit corner to hide in.
Small black creatures scurry along the birch pieces I placed along the back of the mantel.
A black feather boa under the birch probably makes great nesting material for them.
A pair of owls overlook the dark room.
Their all-seeing eyes survey the scene.
A witch's broom and her black lace scarf are hung on the round mirror over the mantel.
Two skull and crossbones were cut from computer clipart.
Black roses are the perfect accent for the cobwebbed birch pieces and thorny branches in the black vases on each side of the mantel.
Silver pumpkins and candlesticks add a bit of sparkle to the otherwise dark space.
A black lantern sits atop a small case on the hearth.
And on the other side, a black urn is filled with birch and some battery operated LED lights.
If you dare, have a seat next to the fire and rest your weary bones.
I had lots of fun creating this...
... thanks to this evil looking character
...who added just the right element to a dark and spooky mantelscape.
Thanks for visiting and Happy Halloween!
