Green Apples & Sunflowers for September

As promised in my last post, here is a look at the décor on the sideboard which coordinates with the Back to School tablescape I designed recently. Green apples and sunflowers along with some school supplies and other elements are combined to create a look that suggests School Time in September.

I'll have a link at the end of this post if you want to check out more of the tablescape but for now, let's concentrate on the sideboard.

I began with this centerpiece of an apple under a cloche set atop a stack of napkins/plates on a cake stand.

The glass cloche is off an old brass mantel clock that no longer works.  The A+ is written on a tiny chalkboard pick I found in a multipack at the Dollar Store.

To the left of the cloche centerpiece, I placed a couple of mugs. Maybe a cup of coffee for the parents and some hot chocolate for the children before they head out the door.

More mini chalkboards were added here. These ones had a sticky side that adhered to the front of the mugs and are easily removed.

Number 3 and 4 mugs are on the right side.

I know it varies depending on where you live but September is Back to School time around here.

A box of faux green apples also speaks of the season.

Here, you can see the combined layout on the sideboard.

Mr. Rooster says "Time to rise and shine for school".

An appropriately titled book would make for good reading.

A wooden caddy holds some school supplies and green-handled flatware.

Although white, the star over the mirror might be reminiscent of a gold star for good behaviour at school or getting an A on a spelling test.

Tall faux sunflowers are added to each side of the display for visual height.  Lanterns were perched on candleholders beside them.

Did you do anything special to send your kids off to school on the first day this year?

If you did, you deserve an.....
