Real Life Romance

I titled this post "Real Life Romance" but really it should be called "Living THE Life".  It's not every woman who has a husband volunteer to cook a delicious dinner and tell her all she has to do is set the table...knowing she loves to do that! Well, that's just what happened around here a few weeks back.

While he was shopping for the groceries that he needed for the meal (yep, he does that too), Mr. Delight picked up some pink and white carnations for our table (yep, on his own without me asking).  Naturally, that was my starting point for the table décor.

I cut the stems short and placed them in a square vase filled with faux ice chips and then tied a green ribbon around the vase.

I moved our coffee table out of the way in the living room and set up a fold-out rectangular table in front of the fireplace.

Our round patio table, which we usually use on these occasions, was outside and needed a lot of cleaning up to be brought in so I opted for easy with this table.

Based on the colours in the floral arrangements, I chose to use these white plates with the pink & green floral pattern (Grandiflora by Gibson). No dish stack here as this was real life with Mr. D serving so I kept it simple.

Silver chargers, green placemats and white napkins complete the place settings. The bowls to the side were used for the shells from our seafood.

Of course, a romantic dinner calls for a candlelight centerpiece and it doesn't have to be expensive. This glass hurricane was from the thrift store for $3.

You can see in this picture below, that even in daylight, candlelight adds instant ambience and is so important in creating a cozy atmosphere.

And as we sat down to eat, the room felt even cozier, as it had started to rain heavily outside.

The scene was set, the wine was poured and dinner was served...Mr. D's meal of surf & turf was so delicious!
Yes, there are definitely times when I feel like I'm living
 THE life!
 Thanks for visiting!
