Lavender Purple & Sage Green Table for Four

Although this lavender and sage coloured tablescape was created for a recent spring dinner with my parents, I think the colours and items used could also lend themselves to a possible Mother's Day table.

With that special occasion on the horizon, I'll show you the details which may inspire you to set a similar table for a memorable meal with mom.

I'm a big fan of repetition down the center of a table and this one started with just that.

I got three of these faux lavender in whitewashed pots at a local grocery store last year.

The sage green coloured pillar candles were part of a recent birthday gift from Mr. D.

Some white bunnies and birdies surround the center lavender and lend a springtime touch.

A light purple tablecloth, sage green tea-square cloth, white placemats and dark purple napkins add layers of colour to the table.

A faux nest and egg inside a purple compote dish provide the perfect placecard holder.

The dish stack consists of a grey faux wood grain charger along with sage green and white plates that I've had for years.

The pots of lavender were set on small square plates to give them more presence.

Candlelight is one of the simplest way to provide ambiance especially as the sun goes down.

I took these pics at the end of our meal once the dishes were cleared as I wanted to capture the atmosphere at the table as we lingered there enjoying our conversation by candlelight.

I served the following menu but of course, only managed to get a pic of the dessert.
Potato & Dill Chowder
Lettuce & Garden Veggies Salad
Scallops in Wine Sauce
Lemon Pepper Chicken
Jasmine Rice
Green Beans
Mud Pie with Raspberries

Do you think this tablescape could work for Mother's Day?

Or maybe next year's Easter table?

In my next post, I'll show you some close-ups of what is on the sideboard behind the table.

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Lori, Everything looks great. That lavender looks real. I love to plant lavender in my gardens. This would be great for Mother's Day and Easter. You can't go wrong with purple and green and that menu sounds delicious. The only thing that I might have done is add some ribbons to the bunnies to match the candlesticks. Can't wait to see the close up of the side table. Have a wonderful day!

  4. Lori,
I adore your "possible" Mother's Day Tablescape!!! Since extending our round dining room table to an oval, I, too prefer to add repetition down the center of a table instead of a single centerpiece!!!
Stacking the planters atop dinner plates is an elegant touch!!! Addition of your color palette with linens adds such a feminine and cohesive touch!!!
I think this tablescape would make a marvelous Mother's Day Tablescape!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  8. The lavender and sage tablescape works beautifully for a Spring table whether it is for Easter or Mothers Day or any special occasion in between. Pretty white candlesticks with sage green candles and the sage and white dinnerware all complemented by the pretty white washed pots full of the faux lavender is beautiful for a pleasant evening meal with family or friends. I love it!
