St. Patrick's Day Mantel

I've never done a St. Patrick's Day mantel before but decided to give it a try this year and had a lot of fun.

Many of the elements I used will probably look familiar as I haven't bought any new St Patrick's décor in years.

I enjoy the challenge of using the same items in different ways.
Here's how the mantel decor turned out.
I started with this small wreath and placed a shamrock in the middle.
Directly below the wreath on the mirror, I placed my St. Patrick's Day plaque.
Of course, my stuffed little leprechauns had to make an appearance. I attached each leprechaun to a small mason jar with an elastic to make them stand.

Some faux boxwood and a little pot of gold add to the look.

Mason jars which are green in colour were a natural choice to fill with mini-lights that wrap around the mirror and then usually lie along the mantel.

When lit, they add a nice green glow to the mantel.

My faux Realite pillar candles get dressed up with some green ribbon and a shamrock decal.
I made this banner for below the mantel by using a shamrock outline found on Clipart and some cardstock. I just taped the bunting to the curtain rod that is attached below the mantel.
The hearth got some St. Patrick's touches as well.
I kept my bucket of birch branches but added some faux greenery and some twig LED lights.
These little twig lights are battery operated and add a soft sparkle in this area.

On the other side, some curly branches with gold beads are enhanced with cardstock shamrocks.
Black framed mirrors on each side of the fireplace coordinate with the black items on the front.

I brought out this Pier 1 green pillow and throw to add more green to the living room.

Have you put out any St. Patrick's Day décor yet?
Do you plan to?
It is fun to add a few touches of green here and there - makes it feel like spring is near!

  1. Your mantel is delightful. What a great idea to use the lights in the mason jars. Also very clever to have a curtain rod under the mantel. Your banner turned out great.

  2. Your mantel turned out so lovely! I don't usually decorate for St. Pat's either but do use some green in my everyday décor. After seeing you wee touch o' the Irish, I may add some of it this year, too!

  3. Very cute mantle, I like the lights shining in that green jar and nice green throw!
    Have a great week,

  4. Adorable!

  5. I am certainly a slacker when it comes to St. Patrick's Day and this mantel makes me feel it even more. How adorable is everything?!! Those stuffed little guys and that banner! Wow, you outdid yourself!

  6. Your mantel is really lovely - the green looks so nice with your wing back chairs. The leprechauns are pretty handsome as well! I don't do a lot of St. Patty' s decor, but I do put a few things out. Stopping by from Share Your Style. Jane

  7. The decor on the mantel and the additional green touches in your living room add a festive feel for St. Pat's Day. Lovely!

  8. OK. Now let me get this straight. You got the brilliant idea of placing a curtain rod underneath your mantel to hang various mantel skirts, pennants, and banners AND YOU DIDN"T TELL ANYONE! So, what's up with that??

As soon as I hit the Publish Button, I'm going to my family room mantel and figure out just what I need to do to get that same set-up. Do you leave it up all the time, or just when you're hanging a mantel skirt? For gosh sakes, women, gives us the details.

  9. Fun and festive. Great St. Patrick's Day ideas!

  10. I do love green and St. Patrick's day! Your mantel is adorably festive Lori. Love the green you added to your pretty brown chair too. Thank you so much for sharing at SYS and have a wonderful week!

  11. I don't decorate for St. Patrick's day, but it is fun to see what others do. Love the little banner and that green pillow is gorgeous! You have a beautiful mantel. Thank you for sharing it at What We Accomplished Wednesdays. Blessings, Deborah

  12. Such a fun mantel! This is definitely putting me in the St. Patty's Day spirit!
