A Little St. Patrick's "Night" Romance

With St. Patrick's Day being so close to Easter this year, I was feeling lazy and thought I'd skip doing anything in the way of St. Paddy's decor. But then, I had second thoughts and I decided I really should pay tribute to my Irish heritage (my great-grandmother was from Ireland) and do a little something.

I didn't want to buy more decorations but wanted to make what I have look a bit different. Thus, I came up with the idea for a little St. Patrick's "Night" romance and created this table for two.

A Leprechaun with his pot of gold peeks out from beside the green and brown place setting.

Here's a picture I took in the daylight so you can see the place setting better.  I used a green and a brown napkin folding them in an accordion style and placed a tiny "green beer" stein and some shamrock garland in the middle.
A ring of shamrocks (wire garland) surrounds the dinner plate.

One advantage of a table for two against a window is that you can use a tall "centerpiece" as it can be off to one side and it won't impede sight lines.

Here, I used pillar candles and a trio of greenery in pots with shamrocks stuck in the tops.

These Dollar Store votive holders cast a romantic glow and an interesting pattern on the tabletop.

From breakfasts-before-work to romantic-dinner-for-two's, Mr. Delight and I eat a lot of our meals at this little table by the window and will, no doubt, enjoy our St. Patrick's Night meal here as well.

However, I'm wondering if I need to rethink the menu though as somehow, Irish Stew and soda bread doesn't seem quite "romantic" enough for all this candlelight!

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all!

  1. Wow - what a unique idea! I wish I could just "do a little something" that looked like I had been planning it for months. I always enjoy your tables, but also your photography. This time is no exception. The table is lovely and I do not think it matters what you serve!!

  6. What a pretty setting for a romantic dinner! Your window with the white grids and the brown curtains create a lovely backdrop to what you added to your table! Love the candlelight! I like that you have so many different kinds of candles, and yet, it doesn't overwhelm the setting. The menu sounds delicious to me and I bet your husband will love it, too!
