Christmas Table in Traditional Colours

Since we are  still very much in the process of celebrating Christmas here at Dining Delight (and will be right up until Epiphany on January 6th), I thought I'd share my Christmas tablescape. Due to my illness last week, I never got it posted till now.

The 2012 Family Christmas Dinner was held at our home and saw 12 family members able to attend.

Inspiration for my Christmas Table in Traditional Colours began with these lacy white pots I got last spring. (sold at Ikea)

I filled multiple pots with picks of red berries, greenery, pine cones and snowflakes.

I combined the decorated pots with multiples of these acrylic Christmas trees placed down the center of the table.

These were all placed on 3 Battenburg lace runners laid next to one another to obtain the look of one longer one.

Centerpieces created using multiples of a few items, repeating the pattern down the center of the table, allows for all guests to have a similar pleasing view.

Place settings were kept simple since the food was served buffet style in the kitchen and guests brought their own plates off the table.

I alternated red, green and white napkins at each place setting.

A tree shaped plate for salads and a candy-cane adorn each plate.

Stemmed candle holders with white votives and silver ball type ornaments were placed in multiples along the table as well.

White wine glasses stand at the ready at each guest's spot.

This was our first large gathering with our new dining room set and it worked well though we needed the addition of a smaller table to accommodate a wheelchair. ( In pic below, you can see the small "bump" where the tables weren't exactly same height/width)

A fun festive time was had by all and of course, we all ate way too much!

  3. This is what I would call "lush", and "luxurious" and "lavish" and "lovely" all in the same sentence. Hey, wait...I just did!!!! These are the kinds of centerpieces we love around the holidays! The more hooked up, the better! :-) I love how you used the lacy pots!!!!!!!!!! You have just the right balance of high and low, the traditional colors are beautifully lit with all the fabulous candlelight on the table and throughout the room, and the repeating pattern down the center...that's my girl!!!!!! I'm sorry about you being ill last week, and I hope you're feeling exponentially better this week. Happy New Year, and congratulations on a stupendous table!!!
