Tea "Fit For A Queen"

Although I love having tea parties, I'm realizing I've had precious few in the last couple of years....something I should remedy soon!  While I'm a bit too busy this week to have one, I still wanted to join in the "High Tea" party in blogland hosted by Decor to Adore where the tea-scape should be "Fit for a Queen". Thus, I thought I'd share this Easter Tea I had a couple years back for my mom. While she is not true "royalty", she will always be a "Queen" in my eyes!

I'll also be linking up to Tablescape Thursday hosted by Between Naps on the Porch.

I moved a round table in front of the fireplace and decorated with pinks and whites and Easter decor.

I used my wedding china, Dimity Rose by
Royal Albert

A hurricane candle holder by Partylite surrounded by faux roses creates a centerpiece flanked by a large white bunny (Home Sense).

It was so cozy by the fireside chatting and sipping tea with my mom.

I decorated the mantel with Easter eggs and tulips.
Small teapot placecard holders (Partylite) and a small bunny (also Partylite) adorn each place setting. The little teapots are also tealight holders when you remove the lids.

We started our tea party with a glass of sherry.
That makes it more of a celebration!

We enjoyed various tea sandwiches and squares.

Evening brings an inviting glow to
our tea setting.

This post has reminded me I should make time to have a special tea party with my mom again this year. We really enoyed this one two years ago.  Do you have someone special you'd like to invite for tea? Though "High Tea" is terrific, even a simple "cuppa" tea with someone you love is made even more special just by adding a little tablecloth and a few candles to your tea setting.
Thanks for stopping by! Now grab yourself a cuppa tea and head over to Decor to Adore and BNOTP.

  6. Hello my friend...

What a lovely tea! It just made me think that Easter really isn't that far off! What a beautiful way to spend some time with your mother! My mother is in Texas and I just don't see her as often as I would like. You have inspired me to make a special tea the next time that I visit her!

Well my dear lady, you always set the most beautiful tables and this Easter tea-scape has got to be at the top of your list! I love all the beautiful pastels...ahhh, those sweet pale pinks are lovely! I just adore the Dimity Rose china pattern...it's sooo very pretty! Love your centerpiece...of course, I have a "thing" for bunnies! Yours is certainly sweet! Ohhh...and I love your little teapot name card holders/tealights! Very unique! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful tea with us, my friend...and I also really enjoyed your beautifully decorated Easter mantel!

  10. Your Queen Mum must have been very honored, indeed! What a lovely gesture and the work and detail you put into this table is amazing!
There is something so proper about having tea by the fire. Just the location makes one feel warm and cozy.

I fell in love with those darling tea pot name tag holders. And when they are lit... so sweet.

You set a lovely and sentimental table. Beautiful. It was a joy to stop by.

  31. This post brought a sweet smile to my face and even a couple of tears.

My mom was English and, of course, loved her tea. Because her 3 kids never developed a taste for tea, she always felt that she had failed in some small way to instill us with an appreciation for the finer things in life. Finer things being tea, of course.

Not only did she love her tea, but she also loved a spot of sherry! She would have loved your tea party. I only wish that I had thought to treat her like the queen that she was while she was still alive. She passed away 4 years ago.

I am the proud owner of part of her collection of teapots and teacups. I will have to start putting them to good use in her honor!

  32. P.S. Thanks so much for visiting my new blog and leaving such a wonderful, encouraging comment on my first tablescape! I had to laugh at your comment about wanting to decorate any flat surface. My husband teases me all the time about that. He will point to a very small spot on a shelf or a piece of furniture and ask me when I will be filling up that gaping hole!

  33. Such a beautiful table!!! I wish I still had my mom to do tea for...I do have her tea cup collection which we used to use for tea for two.

I think it's a great idea to do tea for your mother again and I'm sure your table will be gorgeous again! I LOVE your china!

  35. As much as I love china, and as much china as I've collected, I'm appalled at how ignorant I am about Royal Albert. I need to do some research on this beautiful china maker. Your Dimity is gorgeous, and you've honored your mom in such a lovely way with your delightful tea table. Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay

  44. Your wedding Royal Albert china is just gorgeous and so romantic and elegant. How nice you shared it with your mom, I have my mother visiting me tomorrow, so I will show her my new table. My husband surprised me today with a THUN CZECK Blue Onion pattern set of dishes for 8 places, as tomorrow is our 36th. Anniversary! I'm thrilled! I love them! He thought it matched my 2 tier Meissen compote, or fruit stand, I like it with fruit.
    Thanks for sharing such beauty.
