This tablescape might be about my LOVE for my spouse but it also pays homage to something else.
His LOVE of snow!
I didn't have to set the table with a "snow/winter" theme, we have the REAL THING as a backdrop!
This Valentine's Day, we will be dining in what feels like, a SNOW CAVE! The 'scape is purposely darker so you can focus on what is beyond the window.
Mr. Delight has shoveled the roof twice and along with the amount of snow we've had, we can no longer see the street and barely have any daylight coming in our four front windows. He LOVES it! (an avid downhill skier!)
But for those of you who are NOT so enamored by snow, let's take a closer look at what's on the table!
I got this lovely birdcage for Christmas from hubby (okay, I picked it out, bought it, wrapped it and said it was from him! Would he have thought to buy me a "birdcage"? I think not!)
I decorated it all up with a LOVE theme for the two lovebirds inside.
In the pic below, you can see the front door even has a "heart" shape on it.
When set on a pedestal cake plate, I thought it made a nice centerpiece/side-piece on our table for two.
I used two of these swirly heart shaped salad plates and set a small glass heart on each plate.
I layered them on square black plates and square white chargers. The flatware has clear acrylic handles which pick up the colour of the placemat below.
A tall black champagne flute and a full rounded red wine glass reveal what our libations for the evening will be!
Now, let's see how the tablescape looks in the more romantic setting of darkness...
Do you feel the LOVE?
It was actually Mr. Delight's idea a few years back to put a table near these windows.
We enjoy a lot of our meals here.
Even these Lovebirds are getting in the spirit of things.
The snow is so close to the window
Candlelight is the best way to create romantic ambiance.
What will we be putting on these plates?
While it doesn't seem like very "romantic" food, hubby has made a request for ham with pineapple glaze and scalloped potatoes....
...followed by Raspberry Trifle for dessert
Happy Valentine's Day!
If you can't fight the white stuff you might as well embrace it!

Oh my, you do have lots of snow. I've lived in areas where we had the lots of snow. I have to say, I'm glad we moved :)

Hi!!! Oh, my goodness....all that snow is in FRONT??!??!!! That's a LOT of snow!!! I thought WE had it bad, but you have it WAY worse!!! It almost hurts to look at that! You will be still thawing out in July!!! Good thing you're able to warm the atmosphere with a pretty Valentine's table. I'm with you: give the man whatever he wants for Valentine's Day dinner. I know my husband is not an oyster kind of guy, so he'll get whatever meal his little heart desires. I KNOW chocolate will be on the menu somewhere!!! Have a good one, and stay warm! And wear a bright color if you go out to get your paper so they can find you if you get lost!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteAnother snow lover (and skier) here! I LOVE how the front door of the bird cage has the "heart" shape. Perfect for your lovebirds tablescape! Happy Valentine's to you and your hubby.
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful! I am visiting via the Valentine linky.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to invite you to the two linky parties I am planning. The first will be on February 23~ High Tea Tablescapes. Details can be found on my Wednesday posts. There will be PRIZES!

You obviously know the way to your man's heart with that hearty meat and potatoes dinner (after all that shoveling and downhill skiing, he needs a "hungry hubby" dinner!). ;)

Thanks so much for linking this to my Valentine party. laurie
