Last weekend, we decided to wind up our ski season with a dinner party for some of our skier friends. Mr. Delight made steak & crab and I got to set the table (love it when that happens!)
I didn't want to go with a "ski theme" as REALLY, it is Spring and I also wanted to use some new dishes my daughter gave me for Christmas. Thus, I created a blue & brown colour scheme based on the plates.
I created a centerpiece using a hurricane vase filled with pebbles and water topped by a floating candle.
I surrounded it with faux ivy and cut apart some other bunches of ivy to make trailers down the center of the table.
On both sides of the centerpiece, I placed rectangular vases of cream coloured roses in pebbles/water.
Same set up on the other end of the table. I think it is neat looking when you put the roses down behind the glass of the vase.
These are the wonderful dishes my daughter and her boyfriend gave me for Christmas. I used the blue/brown plate for salad to start and...
...the larger dinner plate for the steak & crab/prawns, and the rest of the fab meal Mr. Delight prepared.
You will see the clear shell shaped side plate (which we used for shells) and the crab crackers. I forgot to take a pic with all the butter warmer dishes on their candles but you can see one in the pic below.
We have acquired 10 of these now so are all set to feed large crowds!
It was such a fun dinner party with lots of laughs and memories of great times had at our local ski resort this past season. Can't wait till next winter!
I'm linking up with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for the always terrific Tablescape Thursday. Head on over and check out the other tablescapes that are sure to inspire you.
