Our Christmas Wine Tasting

A couple of weeks ago, we hosted our 2nd Annual Christmas Wine Tasting Party.

We had approximately 30 guests who were asked to donate to Samaritan's Purse - Operation Christmas Child (a charity we support) in lieu of a hostess gift so it was actually a fundraiser (raised $300!). This is the donation box which was at Wine Tasting Station #1 near the front door.

As guests arrived, they were given a wine glass with a charm specific to that glass so they wouldn't lose track of where they set their glass.  They also received a notecard to record whether they liked/disliked the wines they tried.  Although we all dressed in semi-formal attire the actual wine tasting is pretty casual and we don't go into all the particulars of specific wines. Its just fun!

We didn't have enough wine charms so Mr. Delight handcrafted some out of old pins he had by drilling holes in them and attaching them with wire ornament hangers.  He made the Rolling Stones (tongue) charm for himself!

We created six Wine Tasting Stations in different areas of the house.

Wine Tasting Station #3

Wine Tasting Station #4

Wine Tasting Station #5

Wine Tasting Station #6 (Dessert/Ice Wines)

I forgot to take pics of the food which were a variety of appetizers but of course, we had cheese!

It was a fun party with lots of laughs and good times.  It is something different to try as a theme for your Christmas Party - just don't take it too seriously and enjoy a chance to sip some wine and treasure the friendships you share.

I'm linking up to Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch as I did create a few mini-tablescapes at the various wine stations.  Be sure to stop by BNOTP for many other terrific ideas for your holiday table.

  2. What a wonderful idea!! I just adore your art work on the wall at Station No 1 - it looks fabulous with the yellow wall behind. Please don't tell me you painted it yourself - are you that clever?
    Happy Christmas to you!
