I struggle with decorating for Easter. I know part of it is because I don't much care for pastel colours and they don't go with the decor in my home. After seeing some great inspiration on various blogs, I decided to go in a different direction and created a more "natural" looking Easter Tablescape for 2011.
Thus, I was thrilled when I happened upon these little guys at a local grocery store. I fell in love with their bronze colour and "natural" beauty!
Then I created a centerpiece that adds a bit of the TRUE meaning of Easter by using a cross placed on faux greenery under a cloche.
Keeping with my more natural theme, I used alternating brown and green napkins folded in the "Artichoke Fold" (directions found here on BNOTP) and placed faux eggs and some bits of greenery inside. I like the little "nest" this type of fold creates.
These were placed on alternating sage green and pale yellow dishes and brown "woven look" chargers. I used a sage green tablecloth and cream coloured runner.
Beside each place setting, an egg cup was used as a tealight holder and individual salt & peppers are at the ready.
My amber stemware went well with the colour scheme.
Flanking the centerpiece are my crystal pillar candle holders and vases filled with pebbles, faux greenery and tulips.
And here is how it all came together...
Random shots now of the tablescape both in daylight and by candlelight... feel free to scroll fast if you get bored but I wanted to post all my faves!
Thanks for stopping by! Sorry to have kept you so long....be sure to head over to Between Naps on The Porch for Tablescape Thursday on Wednesday evening/Thursday and see all the other Easter inspiration there!
Just a beautiful table right from the bunny to the place cards. I prefer the earth tones too. You did a wonderful job.

This is a beautiful and meaningful table. I love the cloche with the cross and the nest filled with eggs. What a profound statement it makes~ it speaks of the ultimat sacrifice of our LORD and the new birth because of His sacrifice. Next Easter I'm using your idea and make a cloche with these symbolic elements. Just stunning.
ReplyDeleteEach place setting is ready to meet your family and guests with a pretty vignette. The napkin fold and pretty eggs look so rich and earthy in those wonderful natural tones.
YOur Easter table is so unique and filled with meaning! Wonderful!

You did a great job with your natural Easter table! I'm glad to know that your beautiful napkin gold is called the Artichoke fold. Someone recently showed me how to do the fold and said that her 90 year old mother in Greece taught her. She did say that the folds make the perfect nest for Easter candy.
ReplyDeleteLove your cross & nest under your cloche too for a centerpiece! Happy Easter!
A very special Easter table. Thank you for giving the cross center stage.
ReplyDeleteWell, smack me on the bottom and call me a newborn! Girlfriend!!! You knocked it out of the ballpark! The use of neutral colors to better fit in with your home's decor...genius! It still has a very Easter look about it and the subdued colors give it a very sophisticated look. I am bowled over! Hip, hip, hooray!!! I hope you and your family enjoy this Easter weekend. Take good care. Oh, and where are my manners? Thank you SO much for stopping by my blog this morning! Glad you liked the green! Bye!
ReplyDeleteScroll fast? No way. I enjoyed every photo.
ReplyDeleteElegante, richly coloured and textured, Soothing, and beautiful. That's what your tablescape is.

Lovely!!! My home has the same colors as yours and you just gave me some fabulous ideas for decorating. Thanks!! I am not a fan of pastels either and it is really difficult to decorate for Easter if one prefers more vibrant colors.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
