Summer is winding down and as August days whiz on by, it's beginning to feel more and more like fall. Before that happens though, I wanted to set a tablescape with a late summer vibe.
Sunflowers and seasonal fruit are my go-to decor choice for this time of year. With that in mind, I styled a sunflower, apple and pear themed table in our backyard.
...and then switched it back to this plain yellow plate like the other ones on the table.
The centerpiece began with a couple of little baskets of faux apples and pears.
I arranged these faux sunflowers in a metal watering can and set it on a wood slice in the center of the table.
Rustic candleholders were topped with colour coordinated pillar candles and placed next to the sunflowers and baskets of fruit.
A beige/white checked tablecloth provided the backdrop to the table decor.
Red and green plaid napkins and green placemats rounded out the table linens.
The dish stack consisted of a brown woven-look charger, green dinner plate and a yellow salad plate topped with a faux pear.
By adding a nametag to the stem on the pear, they easily became placecard holders.
Green mason jars with colourful straws served as drinkware.
The view towards the house.
The view towards the backyard.
We've had such smoky skies all summer due to the many wildfires burning nearby, I was fortunate to have a little window of opportunity to set this table when it wasn't so bad.
I'm praying we get a lot of rain soon which would bring relief to the fire situation and help us enjoy these last days of summer.
Have you had sunny-sunflower kind of weather this summer?
Thanks for visiting!

So Cute! I love the sunflower plate.
ReplyDeleteSunflowers and apples, so perfect for Fall. Of course I'm swooning over all the red (my favorite color).
ReplyDeleteLori, you just combined two of my favorite things - sunflowers and apples. I do tables in August with sunflowers and use apples in my decor for September. Always love your tables!
ReplyDeleteI agree that plate is wonderful! I would have bought it too even though it is just one of them. Your whole table is lovely and I hope you get to enjoy the last days of summer outside. #HomeMattersParty

I shared this on FB!!

I love these color combinations and patterns. So summery and even perfect for fall. It is so cozy, inviting and cheerful and it conveys such a welcoming feel. Like come sit a spell and have a great chat with a cup of hot apple cider. Beautiful.
