I've had lots of fun decorating the sideboard in the dining room for Halloween. I tried to go with a mostly black and white colour scheme using items I had on hand. Follow along and I'll show you the spooky details...
Sideboard decorated for Halloween
My display began by using these branches I gathered from a trail behind our house. They were set in a glass vase and I attached some black crows to them.
Candlelight is a must when creating an eerie vibe.
A scurrying black mouse with a flying bat in the background add a Halloween look to this white pumpkin and dish stack.
I think he prefers the dim light for his activities.
This Dollar Store Trick or Treat sign from my decor stash matched the colour scheme...
...as did these black & white dessert plates.
I've used these versatile plates for so many themed occasions from woodland looks to Christmas and now...Halloween!
(Canadian Superstore a few years back)
The black and white checked napkins this creepy fellow is sitting on are really dish towels from Dollar Store.
Below, you can see I also added a black birdcage with a candle to the right of the display.
I draped a Halloween netting over the mirror above the sideboard to soften the reflection.
Cobwebs were woven throughout the branches...
...with a few of the spiders still hard at work.
Small black lanterns were placed on silver candleholders...
...and they provided just the right spooky ambiance.
Yes, I'm happy with how my Halloween sideboard decor turned out this year especially considering I didn't spend a dime on anything new!
Wishing you a...

Lori,
ReplyDeleteI love your black and white Halloween decor. The branches with the birds is fabulous. I may have to try that (but I will have to get more birds. It is spooky and pretty at the same time. Just the way I like it.

You have a very wicked looking side board! Hee Hee! I like the black and white colorscheme. It's the perfect backdrop for all of your spooky accessories.
ReplyDeletePerfect Halloween sideboard and love how you didn't spend a lot of $$. When you dress-up Dollar Store finds, they can be a winner as yours are. Good choice on the black and white theme and of course, your use of candles/candle light. Nice votive holder! Good branches from near your home. You always share such creative ideas on your blog. Thanks and Happy Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI just love this, it's perfect!

This is wonderful! I like the way you've pulled this together to be "spooky" and fun but not too scary. Sometimes Halloween decorations go a little too far for my taste, but you've done a great job here.
