Fall Bathroom Decor

Adding some fall décor to your bathroom is an easy way to give a utilitarian space some pizazz.

 

 

 

My autumnal accents started with these cylinder hurricane vases filled with pumpkins, leaves and pine cones. I also threw in some orange acrylic beads and added the tealights in the inserts on top.

 

 

A fall bouquet in a woven vase provides a backdrop for the candleholders.

 

 

On the other end of the couner, a black metal basket is decorated with a pumpkin and some leaves.

On the floor beside the tub/shower, this stand is also given some fall touches.

 

 

I always try to dress up the basket that holds Kleenex on the back of the toilet.  Here, I added large faux acorns and leaves.

 

 

All the permanent items in my bathroom are in neutral colours so it's easy to add colourful seasonal touches.

 

That includes the metal wall art and black/white picture. Adding one orange towel gives a pop of fall colour.

Fall Mantel & Hearth 2014

 While I'm sad to see summer leave, I'm looking forward to the cozy feeling of drawing in that the cooler weather and shorter days of fall bring.

I've kept my fall mantel decorating fairly simple this year with some old standby elements so nothing new here. 

  

 

I started by placing an orange berry wreath on the black framed mirror.

 

 

Next, a couple of lanterns with some fall embellishments were set on one side of the mantel.

 

 

On the other side, two black candleholders with "Reallite" faux candles balance things out.

 

These "FALL" letters have been used in many areas of our home at this time of year but now take center stage on the mantel.

 

 

Add in a few faux leaves and pumpkins and the mantelscape is complete.

 

 

On the hearth, I copied last year's décor and put this faux pumpkin in a tall basket with fern leaves.

 

 

A black lantern holds another "Reallite" faux candle.  I love how real-looking these candles are! Its hard to tell in pics but the flame flickers just like a real flame. And you can set the timer to have them come on the same time each day.
(No, not compensated by them...just that I love them!)

 

The coffee table centerpiece of pine cones and leaves in a basket coordinates with the fireplace décor.

 

Back in the spring, I added a black-framed mirror to each side of the fireplace on the existing hardware that usually holds Christmas décor.

 

 

 

I've gotten so use to looking in this one (below) as a last check before heading out the door, that I'm going to miss it when I take them down to put up my Christmas decorations!

 

I also like the way the lamp is reflected in it at night.

 

It seems fitting that a cozy area like our fireplace gets some fall décor which adds to our enjoyment of the living room during these cooler evenings.

Fall Farewell Dinner Party

Last week, I hosted a farewell party for one of my co-workers who was moving.  As this entailed setting a table for multiple guests, I thought I'd share a few steps I took to accommodate a larger group.

Although I didn't take a pre-tablecloth pic of the extra table I used, you can see below how I put it up against our usual dining table which had 2 leaves added to it.

 

 

With 3 brown tablecloths as a base, I added 2 gold table runners and a burlap ribbon down the center of the tables.  Orange napkins were turned diagonally to serve as placemats.

 

Don't worry if you don't have enough matching items as you can see, I had to add a different colour of orange napkins in 2 spots and also used some different chairs.  Once you have the table all set, your eye won't even notice the mismatched objects but will focus on the prettiness.

 

Next, I added the centerpiece items and some gold chargers.

 

A combination of items were arranged down the center of the table to serve as a centerpiece.

 

I placed some faux fall florals inside these 3 of these burlap vases and...

 

 

 

...also in 3 of these little baskets I got at London Drugs this summer.

 

Raffia was tied around some mason jars which were filled with little faux pears and topped with a votive cup/candle. Faux fruits of a fall harvest were also added.

 

 

Amber stemware and a mix of orange and brown plates topped with napkins in gold napkin rings complete the tablescape.

 

Putting everything together looks like this...

 

The sideboard was also decorated for the occasion.

 

I made a banner of a cute phrase that the guest of honour always says which added a personal touch to the party.

 

Hurricane vases filled with faux fruit in a woven tray make up the centerpiece on the sideboard.

 

 

 

Some fall décor was added to the corner area.

 

Guests helped themselves to the potluck food items on the kitchen island and table. 

 

A beverage station was set up in the kitchen as well.

 

 

Guests took a plate off the table prior to serving themselves at the buffet in the kitchen and then returned to a seat at the table.

 

 

A long decorated table, delicious potluck food and lots of laughs with a few tears helped us send our co-worker off with a fond farewell.

 

We will miss her!
