Etagere Decorated for Easter

Last week, I got busy and started putting out some of my Easter décor.  I needed to look at some springtime items inside when so much of outside is still covered in snow!

I started with the étagère we have in the living room. Let me take you through the details, shelf by shelf.

The top shelf "background" is a metal tree wall-art piece that I attached to the back of the étagère.
In the middle of the shelf is a lidded-wooden-box in which I placed some yellow tulips and a boxwood ball.

Also on this shelf, is a new bunny I found at HomeSense.  I really like his neutral colour. Beside him, I placed a glass vase filled with faux eggs and tied with raffia.

The second shelf displays a newly purchased "mini-suitcase" (Cooper's grocery store) filled with Easter décor.

This little suitcase holds a cross, a bunny, a nest, some greenery and faux eggs.

A green birdhouse and a little birdie candleholder are placed on one side of the suitcase.

The next shelf holds some little Easter treasures of mine.

This set of little girl and boy bunnies (from Partylite years ago) is one of my favourite Easter decorations.

These sheep candleholders (also by Partylite) have special meaning as they were among my late Grandma's things which recently came into my possession.

A Pier 1 lamb sits in the middle of this shelf. A reminder especially at Easter that Jesus is called "The Lamb of God".

The bottom shelf features a metal birdcage filled with a fern and faux eggs.

A nest of eggs is placed on a candleholder and sits beside the birdcage.

Fireplace Decorated for Spring

Using neutral colours with touches of green, I was able to decorate our fireplace for spring with a look that coordinates with our living room décor.

Let me show you the details.

A boxwood wreath, a bunny and a birdcage with white mini-lights were the basis for my spring mantel.

I've mentioned before that I always have white mini-lights on my mantel and incorporate them into the various seasonal décor.
Here, I wound them into a birdcage and added some ivy and two little birds.

On the left side of the mantel, sits a bronze-look bunny peeking out from some tulips and ivy.

Beside the bunny are two faux candles.
I just love these kind (Reallite) as they have a realistic looking flickering flame.
Some of the mini-lights were tucked in amongst the faux tulips.

A spring mantel isn't complete without a nod to the true meaning of Easter so I placed my framed "He is Risen" and a cross in the middle.

Can you see the little nest I attached to the middle of the boxwood wreath?

On the curtain rod under the mantel, I wrapped these curly dried reed-type strips.  I think it adds a natural rustic look.

The hearth also got a few spring touches.
Some spring grasses in a brown vase.

The hearth lantern gets some Easter décor inside.
A little nest and faux eggs fill the base and a butterfly pin is attached to a pillar candle.

Happy Spring!

St. Patrick's Day Table for Six

Are you ready to "get your green on"?
It's time to join in Cuisine Kathleen's 6th Annual St. Patrick's Day Blog Crawl.
My maternal great-grandmother was from Ireland and I'm feeling inclined to celebrate my heritage with this
St. Patrick's Day Table for Six
Hope you enjoy seeing it and all the other Irish goodies linked to Kathleen's party!

This tablescape began with three white "lacy" pots (maybe reminiscent of Irish lace?) with boxwood and shamrocks placed on top. These were then placed on square white plates and surrounded by shamrock garland.

A little lucky leprechaun enjoys a rest while surveying all the green.

Three of these little pots o' gold (had for years) were placed around the center plate/pot.

I used various shades of green dishes on a gold charger with gold coloured flatware.
(the bowls were a bday gift from my sister-in-law, I love their colour!)

The napkin is decorated with a tiny green beer stein tied with ribbon to the napkin ring.

The stemware was given some extra flair with shamrock vinyl cling-ons and wired shamrock garland both from the Dollar Store.
Candles decorated in the same manner were added to each place setting.

Below, you can see how I criss-crossed the green table runners to act as placemats.

This table is set in preparation for a St. Patrick's Day meal to be held hopefully sometime this weekend.
Because of Mr. Delight's erratic work schedule, it will be a last-minute-cooking-session with last-minute-guests-who-are-able-to-attend (switching out the sample placecard names I've used) which is, more often than not, the way we have to do things around here.

So it may be a St. Paddy's Day luncheon or...

...a St. Patrick's Day dinner by the glow of candlelight,
but either way, the scene is set to celebrate in style!

Now grab a bottle of Guinness or a glass of Bailey's Irish Cream and head on over to Cuisine Kathleen's Blog Crawl to get inspired for the upcoming Irish holiday!

St. Patrick's Day Sideboard

I've done a bit of St. Patrick's Day decorating in the dining room.
It seemed like a good "in between" winter and spring seasonal décor to do since spring seems quite far off with our latest major dump of snow.

I started with yellow tulips and boxwood on the sideboard.

This "Happy St. Patrick's Day" plaque is from HomeSense years ago.

My "Pot of Gold" was created with a little black pot filled with tissue paper and topped with gold chocolate coins.

Two lucky leprechauns were perched on top and beside the treasure.

A side view of the St. Pat's décor.

This Irish Cross is also from HomeSense and says
"God Bless Your Days"

Another leprechaun sits beside a shamrock printed plate on a side table.

Have you done any decorating for the upcoming Irish holiday?

I hope you will check back soon to see my
