Winter Welcome Mantel

After taking down the Christmas mantel décor earlier this month, I decided to embrace the seasonal weather we are having and created a

Winter Welcome Mantel

Come have a seat by the fire while I show you the details.

On the left side of the mantel, I've perched a snow-white owl (found last year at a local boutique) on a black candlestick. Some greenery, snowflakes and a "Winter Welcome" sign add to the theme.

In the middle of the mantel, I created a "Gone Skiing" (so us!) sign on the computer and put it in a frame and tucked it along with a ski ornament into some birch pieces.

This picture below is a better shot of how the birch pieces are laid on the mantel with white mini-lights underneath.

On the right side of the mantel, a little snowman is inviting you to enjoy winter's welcome.

After Christmas, I hate taking down all the lights so I always leave some on the mantel and around the mirror and work them into whatever seasonal décor I've got going on there.

Below, you can see how I hung snowflakes at various heights from the curtain rod under the mantle.

More birch logs are placed in a brown box on the hearth.  White mini-lights, a snowflake and part of a ski pole are also tucked inside.

This fireside hearth lantern is given a "birch accent" with a candle riser inside.

Hope you've felt the thrill instead of the chill of
Winter's Welcome!

Pine Cones and Snow

I am currently having some computer issues so am trying this simple post as a "test" today.
 (had to use my laptop)
Here are a few random pictures of centerpieces/displays I've created with a wintry theme of pine cones and snow.

If anyone knows why suddenly, I can't get the "add selected" button to work (on Blogger) when I upload pics to the post I'm doing, I'd love it if you could leave me a comment or email me!
(not very computer savvy!)

Thanks for visiting!

Birch Winter Tablescape

I know, every year around this time, I say the same thing and here I go again.
The Season of Christmas lasts from

December 25 - January 6

Christmas Day to Epiphany

12 days

As such, we are still thoroughly enjoying our Christmas activities and décor.

With this in mind, I wanted to create a tablescape that would have a Christmas and winter vibe to it. The birch that Mr. Delight cut for me last fall was perfect for this look.

From the small birch logs to the wonderful birch log candle holders he made,
(hard to tell in pics as I used candle inserts inside votive holders, but he drilled holes into birch)...
...I am loving the rustic woodland look of the birch combined with some faux pine sprays and pine cones.

Pine cones were also incorporated into the centerpiece...

...along with some candles.

We gathered the mini pine cones from a tree in our yard last year.
(Love this "Estate Hurricane" by Partylite - birthday present a few years back from my aunt)
I have posted a few tips on how to create this look at the end.

I used my snowflake wine glasses and snowflake napkin rings to coordinate with the weather outside.

Additional birch log pieces were used as placecard markers.

The birch log candle holders were placed on the sideboard.
Crystal-look trees and reindeer add a bit of glam to the scene.

Mr. Delight gave me this "trees in fall" picture for Christmas which I just love.  It goes so well with the current theme in the dining room too!

Are you still enjoying your Christmas décor and the Christmas Season?
